Self-Guided Tours can be booked through our timed ticketing system on our events calendar. 

Self-Guided Tours

Self-Guided tours are available Tuesday through Sunday:

  • September – May from 1:00 pm. – 4:30 pm;
  • June to August from 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Upon your arrival, staff will provide an introduction to the site, and will be available for questions and assistance. Visitors are then free to explore Glanmore at their own pace. Visitor guidebooks, photos and storyboards are available throughout the historic house.

Visitor Guidebooks are available in:

  • English;
  • French;
  • Spanish;
  • Mandarin.

Individual visitors and small groups (e.g., families) may tour the museum through self-guided exploration. 

Small Group Tours (less than 10 participants)

Small group guided tours are available upon request through the online reservation form Requests for guides require a minimum of 7 days advance notice.

Scheduled guided tours and theme tours for the general public are offered throughout the year. Check our events calendar to find an upcoming tour.

Large Group Tours (10 or more participants)

We look forward to welcoming your tour group or community organization for a guided tour at Glanmore.

  • Groups are required to book tours at least 15 days in advance using the online reservation form. These tours take place by appointment only.
  • You should allow for at least 90 minutes in your itinerary for your experience at Glanmore.
  • Group admission (10 or more people) is $6.50 per person. For groups arriving by bus, the guide and driver are admitted free of charge.

Theme Tours

A variety of tour themes are available, scheduled throughout the year or by request:

 Introduction to Glanmore
Meet the Phillips family, Glanmore's original residents and learn about the designation of Glanmore as a National Historic Site of Canada. This general tour visits at least two floors of the museum while your knowledgeable guide highlights artifacts original to the historic house as well as those from the Couldery and Regional Collections. (Approximately 1 hour)
 A Servant's Life at Glanmore
Stories and details of the lives of servants that lived and worked at Glanmore are interwoven into a historic house tour that visits three floors and includes a behind-the scenes look at the unrestored service areas of the house. Participants must be able to climb stairs. (Approximately 1.5 hours)
 Restoration In-Depth
The historic house is Glanmore's #1 artifact. Discover the care that has been taken to preserve and restore Glanmore National Historic Site. Participants will see tools, materials and resources used in the restoration process as they explore Glanmore with their guide. (Approximately 1.5 hours)
 Victorian Christmas
Available in late November and December only. Enjoy a guided tour of Glanmore and discover the Victorian origins of many Christmas traditions. (Approximately 1 hour)
