The City of Belleville’s Glanmore National Historic Site, part of the Community Services Department, is ready to help you enjoy the festive season!

The restored rooms of the historic house museum, located at 257 Bridge Street East, Belleville, have been transformed to represent an 1890s Christmas celebration. Christmas trees, ribbons and garlands abound and antique toys from the museum’s regional collection are featured in the exhibits.

Several events are scheduled to help you get the most out of the museum for the holiday season.

On Sunday, November 24, 2024, celebrate the Spirit of the Season with a museum open house from 1:00PM to 4:00PM. During this event you will enjoy FREE admission to Glanmore National Historic Site with a donation of a non-perishable food item for Gleaner’s Food Bank. Get into the festive spirit with a self-guided tour of the historic house to take in the beautiful Christmas exhibits and make a traditional ornament to take home for your tree.

On Saturday, December 7, between 2:00PM and 8:00PM Glanmore is featuring In Time with Live History. Part theatrical experience and part escape room, this event will challenge participants of all ages to work together to explore Glanmore, solve clues and complete tasks in hopes of gaining an audience with the Phillips family’s special guest – Father Christmas!  Glanmore has partnered with Live History for this fun event. Live History is a site-specific escape room theatre company that has been nominated for the Governor General's award for History and Community theatre!

The popular Glanmore Aglow, evening tour is back for one-night only on Wednesday, December 18 from 5:30PM to 8:30PM. To see the historic house after dark, in all its full festive splendor, is a sight to behold! Chat with our docents and learn about the museum’s amazing toy collection and traditional Christmas décor. Make a holiday-themed thaumatrope to take home and enjoy music performed by members of the Quinte Symphony. Plus, delight in a visit with our special guests Santa Claus and a friendly elf visiting from the North Pole!

Advance tickets with timed-entries are required for both the In Time with Live History and Glanmore Aglow events. Tickets are $10.00 for adults, $8.50 for students and seniors, $6.50 for children 5-12, and children under 5 are free. Tickets can be purchased online at www.glanmore.ca.
